终于下雪了!!
Monday, December 04, 2006

As the title states, YES... it has finally started snowing this morning! Though it lasted only a couple of hours, it was enough to send us Singaporeans here into a morning of frenzy and excitement, much to the ang mohs' amusement. It started off with a rain this morning, which led us to waking up from in disappointment (weather forceasted for snow at 3am). As I was driving out of the garage, WY noticed that the raindrops have frozen into ice bits aka snow. That statement made both Melis & I screaming in excitement. Haha. The wierd thing was, it wasn't as cold as some other days today though.

PS: Yea it looks just like snow we see on tv shows.. *beams beams beams*

Freeport, Portland
Saturday, December 02, 2006

As Xmas is approaching, we would expect to see everyone getting into the mood, the streets lit up with shimmering lights, playing the good old tunes. Not here in Maine.. nor New Hampshire. Heard there was a Xmas light-up in Freeport, Portland hence we drove down in the hope of catching some Xmas spirit. So much so for the so-called "Xmas light up" indeed. The decorations weren't too impressive. Individual houses were nicely decorated though. Perhaps Xmas is more of a family reunion and religious thing here, not so commercialized like that back home. And maybe like dad says, bigger cities would be more elaborate when it comes to such occasions, New England's considered more "countryside". Personally, I kinda like it this way too, gives me a more nostalgic feeling.

On a sidenote, the weather forecast says it's going to snow on Monday.. Can't wait to see it!! Though I really wonder how that is possible, temperature's been in the 10s degrees celsius these past few days.

Looking forward to my white white Christmas...

été à Montréal et est revenu!
Friday, December 01, 2006

Finally the weekend's here again! Haven't really recovered from the long Thanksgiving holiday (yea my mind's still immersed in the holiday mood...) and hence this week seems painfully long, compared to the rest. Then again, cos the year is ending, everyone started going into full gear, to get back locks into place, settling a hundred and one things which have a direct impact on their bonuses. The classic 临时报佛脚... It's all about which lots are to be released, numbers, inspection, rushing of deviations, deviations and more deviations, reports, documentations.. the list just goes on. I had to reach the office at 7am today and worked non-stop till 430pm, with a pile of things undone (kinda paiseh cos this means Ms D has to come back over the wkend to get the data and info compiled so it can be sent to the customer by Sunday). Well, priviledges come with responsibilities..

***

Went to Montréal, Canada over the Thanksgiving holidays. Cos it is further up north, the weather there was much colder compared to Maine (okay pretty obvious from the thick layer of clothes we are all wearing). Along the way up, we chanced upon this big lake..

Amazing scenary.

Canadians speak French primarily though most of them know English as well. Rekindled my regret for not taking up French in NTU. Learnt a few words here and there during the trip :) The buildings in Montréal are mainly Victorian styled and looked gorgeous especially at night.

Like many other big cities, Montréal has it's own Chinatown and a Little Italy. One thing I didn't know was the Olympic Games was held in Montréal before! That was where it dawned upon me that it is really possible to build a big stadium/building without the need of a very big land space. Have always been quite skeptical about how we can actually have a ten over thousand seater building in SG given our land constraints. Eye opener.

The most beautiful buildings in Montréal would have to be the churches. Awed by the architechure and design of every church we went into.

More photos here.

Really enjoyed myself for the trip. Loads more to do during winter! *beams* Can't wait for our upcoming LA/Las Vegas/San Diego too.. Guys, we gotta start planning... else got to end up staying on the streets!!
